Benjamin Moore has a line representing the most common colours
used at the turn of the 20th century. They will very occasionally evaluate a
heritage neighbourhood and identify a line of historically accurate "Heritage Colours". They have
palettes for districts in Toronto and Vancouver, for example.
A couple of years ago, they released the Benjamin Moore Old
East Village Heritage Colour Palette and we were quick to
seize the opportunity to use these authentic colours to help
maintain the classic charm in our apartments. There were a
number of articles published at the time... it was quite a big
deal for Old East Village to be recognized this way. Recently,
all the articles have disappeared from the internet and
there's no mention of the palette on Benjamin Moore's website.
We, however, generally rely on the fickleness of corporate
websites and we took the liberty of saving the colour palette
jpg off Benny Moore's site. Each of the apartment pics on this
site have a "Current colours" tag that'll show you what
colours are used in each room. If you go to the Benjamin Moore
on York Street here in Old East Village and ask about the Heritage colours,
they'll have you covered. Here's a jpg of the palette in full.
While the jpg won't be totally accurate on your monitor, the
Benjamin Moore colour code is listed on each sample and the
colours are all still available.
